JackyBoy's 1xCr Build

Well well well, it's finally time to start the build log for my new pc. I have been saving up for ages and after going through many different ideas I bit the bullet and bought all my pieces at Gadget Show Live from Scan. (Great guys there, really knew their stuff and got a blinding deal. In comparison overclockers.co.uk were awful, with no obvious knowledge, the girl I spoke to anyway.)

But here are the details:

3930k

32gb 1866 Mushkin redline

Rampage iv extreme

2x corsair force GT 120gb SSD

2x EVGA 680 GTX

NZXT Switch 810 White

2x Dell u2412m

1x Dell 2407wfp

Then on to the cooling!

(All EK blocks)

CPU

Ram

Motherboard

680s

Dual D5 (in one loop)

2x pa120.3

Unfortunately the parts won't come until the 25th due to the cards not being in stock yet

but I will start modding the case and hopefully start uploading some pics

I will be using is mainly for rendering/game content creation and then gaming (Battlefield 3, Eve Online) I can't wait to start building this and showing you all what I can make...hopefully! Haha.

(I will also go a little off topic at some points to show my other system I bought, a little 2500k render server as Scan saved me so much money haha)

Looking forward to this build, sounds like it going to be brilliant, you have got some great hardware going in it. Cant wait for the pics.

Those Rampage boards are so sexy. Nice parts list, now get some pics up! NAOW!

Good luck on the build, hope to see some neato ideas.

Sorry about the delay, only realised that I have taken apart my old pc to use some bits, so didn't actually have a pc to use to upload stuff! So using the magic of iDevices and apps I can finally bring you some pics!

Just water blocks and server pc at this time, but more (and less blurry ones apparently) will follow! Should have about 4 packages arriving this week from various places in Europe

Aah, yeah that's probably what it was

Well a few more bits came, (don't you hate it when you finally order all your bits and it just seems like everything is out of stock!) anyway, here are a few more photos of kit to look at

Photos arent coming out great

but I'm just using my phone ATM, will take better quality ones at the weekend.

Lots of stuff! (and yes I will clean up that radiator good and proper before use!)

And the other server bits

(even though this is all part of my new pc set up, I may start another thread on the server bits, what do you think?)

Most of it is still to be delivered, sometime this week I hope! I know it's not that interesting at the moment but it will start getting interesting soon!

Just to let people know, they I haven't dropped off the face of the planet, my 680s were still out of stock, so I phoned up scan today and told them to not bother sending them...and ordered 3x EVGA 670s instead
tongue.png
should be delivered on monday!

Only problem now is I have 2 excess waterblocks for 680s. They say they fit the 670s but apparently they just don't
sad.png
I hope scan will take them back but it has been like 35 days, so might need some persuading.

Well, it's finally time for me to do some more interesting updates! A couple of weeks ago a big box finally came through my door, after about 7 weeks of it being on order!

About bloody time too! Well here are all the parts neatly laid out, I am still just using my iPhone 4S for photos, while seems to work well in lots of light, is appalling in low light.

Got sick of waiting for the 680s, so thought I may as well order these

I also have my Switch 810 under the desk and also a Dell 2407WFP out of shot.

So after I finally got all my stuff it was time to start messing around with it, unfortunately at a VERY slow pace. First of all I started to sleeve the cables.

A lot of labelling, rather be safe than sorry!

Now doing the PCI-E cables was nearly the most frustrating thing in my life! I got the proper tool from MDPC, but it just DID NOT WORK!! I ended up having to bend the tool slightly so that it would pinch the wire about more to push in the clips. Reading every forum post on it that just said "gently push in the tool, then slide the wire out easily" wasn't doing my sanity any fabours either! Took me about 2 hours in the end to get 1 cable out. Just one. Well i slowly developed a bit of a technique (and modding the tool helped)

Anyway, more pics.

Not too bad on first attempt I didn't think...

Well, only about 10 more sets of wires to go...:'(

So that's all I have at the moment, will update more when I can, mainly just sleeving at the moment. Plus I need EK to release the 670 waterblock as I sent the 680 ones back.

Hope you liked the update!
