Hey, got my E6600! How's this stepping? E6600 Malay : L651B592

Thanks!

I didn't do a search but I don't recall that being one of the better steppings. It's a plus because it is a "B" series, but it's batch number is higher than the real premium chips (L628-631).

On topic of steppings, any way for finding them out without taking out the CPU? They on the Box anywhere? (Bigass licence sticker thing on the side)

And once youve found it where can you find the lists of good and bad? Google has never helped me on this:(

You can find it on the box mate... Forgot exactly where on the sticker, I think its half way down on the left.

Once you have your number, go to XS and search up to the letter (ie. L629B).

bah i dont know ,i bareley get 3.3 stabel at 1.475 colts :(

How'd you get 3/4 of a colt? :p

In the end, it still depends on the chip, there are good A's and poor B's, and everywhere in between (what a rhyme), but hey, you did get 3.3 stable :)

yeah but quite hot for summer , so now i am at 2.87

ratio 4:5

Ram 400 mhz 5-5-5-13 and i idle 42 while at 3.3 idle was 55 and load 70 too much

pity i thought A was better than B :(

I can't say for sure, that's just what fraggles said to me.

I gotta ask, what is 'stepping' and how does it and 'the batch' apply in finding out what overclocks best? What gets me is people saying this batch is better than that batch, but it isn't quite right... not all these cpu's are the same in any case, and not oc'ed and tested the same either. The only thing you can really do is go after a certain cpu model (say, the E6600) and go to task with it. If a bunch of people get a model and have success, its gold... if not, stay away. Not to mention the rest of your parts also determine how well you can overclock, and your room temp, etc etc etc.
