Is this a normal difference in Temp range of cores on Muliti-core cpu?

So I got my new rig up and running with the i7 950

cores 0 and 2 run hotter than cores 1 and 3

currently I have the following temps for the last hour, Temps in Celsius.

core-- min-- max

0.... 42c , 46c

1.... 38c , 42c

2.... 41c , 45c

3.... 38c , 43c

so 4 or 5 degree C difference average on high and low core, is that pretty normal and fine, Or is that too much a spread, would this warrant trying to re apply thermal paste and cooler to CPU?

And a second question,, What about the TMPIN temps I have a spread on those as well, and not sure what exactly they are or if it matters but here are those temps.

TMPIN0....42c

TMPIN1....38c

TMPIN2....49c

yeah most hold closely to the others but some chips do what urs is doing I wouldnt sweat it any at all.

Cool, thanks, Im burning a video right now and getting 7c to 8c difference between lowest core and highest core. Averaging 5c but does hit 7to8

For future reference, at what point would I need to be concerned as far as the temp differences go?

well basically the temp difference is due to the ISH installion from intel. only way to correct it is to remove it reapply tim and the reattach it. I dont recommend this. Overall as long as you dont breach the recommended high temp threshold for to long you should be fine. The difference from core to core will always remain as it is. However if you feel you might of fudged the cpu's tim then see if that corrects it. It may just be that as well. I'd look back into Tom's vid of the rig undergoing his testing and see if he had similar results first. I'm going to see if I see anything on it as well lol

well I saw a smaller diff in core temps I saw 4c from coolest to warmest while he was priming it. 76c on lowest and 81c on warmest loaded and 36c on lowest and 41c on warmest so I think ur ok there
