i am building this rig for a friend he wants a really cheap system good enough to play games at medium hes not much of a graphics nut and the only demanding he will play is bf3

his budget is 350 so this is what i came up with.

i was just wondering if this is a good starter system for him.

BF3 will really struggle on that.

For a £350 budget I dont really know what else to suggest though. I couldnt do much better for £350 but at the same time I wouldnt even try to build a gaming system for that.

Only advice i could say would be go for an AMD, maybe phenom or llano build, save money on the cpu and then upgrade the graphics to a 7770 or a 6850/6870, but that may break the budget limit.

Also, the psu probably wouldnt be enough, and I wouldnt ever use an unbranded one. Other than look for second hand parts on ebay, I dont know what to suggest

i found a 6850 for 90 pounds ill use that instead of a 6770 ill use some of my own money to stretch the budget to 400 which is kinda hard to do since i am only 14

No, a 5770 is exactly the same chip as a 6770, just rebranded. the 6850 is a step up from that, but it wont make that much difference.

This would be my suggestion to you for this build

No way - you'd never get away with BF3 on intergrated graphics...

Very good system, but his friend said that it needs to play battleifeld 3 at med settings

Yeah you'd struggle soooo much with BF3 with HD2500 graphics, i'd defo stick with the OP's build now he said he's gonna opt for a 6850

I'd be very surprise if you could build a system for £350 that could that said if you had a budget of £400 then you could add a Asus GeForce GT 630 810MHz 2GB PCI-Express HDMI to the build list i have posted

if hes not playing at 1080p then the 6770 should handle it well as my firends 6770 plays it at medium/ high at 780p

. i used to have an i3 before the 2500k and it handles bf3 fine

just change the psu and your fine

had a lot of friend have pc's die due to crappy psus.

Ah, good to see that I'm not the youngest member around here
