Is this a good deal?

I don't know about the UK, but I can do much better for the same price range and better motherboard/ram

In the US we can get the processor for ~300 get a good mobo for ~150-300 (depends on what you want) and some high performance good RAM for ~ 100-150 = ~550- 750 USD which is around ~225-375 your currency. Hope I helped :)

This of course counts on you guys having the same price for the parts mentioned of course.

Hope I helped!

Yeh, i deleted to post as you replied. lol.*read the one above* The Abit IP-35 pro is a decent board though isnt it? And the Q6600 a decent CPU? or would the E6850 produce alot less heat? Heat dosent really bother me just the cooler the better :)

And with the money saved from the RAM i think im gonna buy a thermochill 240mm rad.

IP-35 = Yes

Q6600 = Yes

My personal preference would be the E6850 over the Q6600 (that's what im getting on my new build) purely because the E6850 should overclock a fair bit higher and IMO only servers need quad core at the moment.

Go with the quad and a P5K. Quads will benefit you in newer games too, such as Crysis which will be quad optimized. Only practical reason to get an E6850 is for pure OCs and high speeds for people that can afford to switch out proccys often. I don't think me and you, and most people here have the power to do that.

Hm yeh... is the Abit board good tho? coz its a really good price.. and i dont know the asus boards there are too many of them haha. lol.. dno which is which.

The mobo is excellent - linky

I have the quad on a p965 chipset, it wont clock higher than 3.5 stable, will bench at 3.8. The blitz arrives today, p35 - will report any difference in oc's later (basically you are considering the quad and p35 = good combo).

I'm switching to the 6850, also arrives today...

Very nice Mr. Smith.. :) i cant afford the blitz..

One question for anyone who knows w/c.. will my nexXxos XP be any good for a quad core CPU?

I've got a feeling that the pin array on the nexXxos is in the centre, so it's not exactly going to be amazing on the Quad, but it'll still get the job done.

Orite thanks :) i can always buy a new one if needs be. I think i might be ordering in the next couple of days..

The Abit IP-35 pro and the Q6600. :) either these or a paintball gun :)

Yeh ill see how the nexXxos fairs with the quad core. Ill get some piccars up when its all been purchased and shipped etc. :)
