Is it worth a getting a second card?

I curently have an MSI 780ti Gaming and I am very temped to get a second card whilst OCUK still have the card in their sale. I know that it would be overkill for my current monitor (1920x1200), but I am planning to upgrade to 2560x1440 soon (just waiting to see if any decent G-Sync monitors come out).
What I was wondering was if I would see any real noticable difference with a second card or would the one card still be more than enough for 1440p?

By the time you'll want SLI, the 780Ti will be even cheaper than it currently is in the sale. I'd wait till the next price drop
