So im having some issues with my rig.

I noticed about a month ago i was having issues with my computer, i was getting screen freezes, games crashing and even movies crashing. By crashing i mean the current game or movie (via VLC) would crash and close or would freeze my screen forcing a restart. I noticed it happening more and more with games like WoW and TF2. As my rig is 2 years old i first thought it needed a good clean, so i did that. No joy. Then i thought "well i want to upgrade my GPU and Ram anyway" so i bought a new GPU and Upgraded to 8gig ram. No joy! Then i thought it might be the CPU over heating, so i removed old thermal paste and replaced shiny new stuff!

Still no joy! so what else could it be? the mother board? which is a Gigabyte ma790xt-ud4p??? Im pulling my hair out!

Any help would be amazing!

Assuming its a mechanical disk - have you tried a good old defrag?

you dont mention it but freezes, lock ups and crashes can be caused by the psu too.

not enough or unstable juice to the system can cause a whole host of issues that you would think are everything else before you notice you have swapped out all the parts bar the psu....

which psu do you have and how old is it?

Its a OCZ500XSX about 2 years old, a little less!

The funny thing is i can run 3 clients of EVE online without a problem. As soon as i try anything with a bit more punch it goes to shit! Saying that i t can happen whilst watching a movie! god im stuck!

maybe capacitor aging on the PSU?

I would say get a mate to lend you a PSU and test that.

Hmm could be you're HDD.... Backup youre important files before its to late...

Mine did exactly the same, now the drive has crashed, and lost a lot of files...

yeah i always have backups! Seems it could be anything that i haven't replaced, PSU, MB, CPU, HDD! just gonna have to replace everything over time and see whats what i think.

still having this problem, Games that dont take much load like eve online i can play for hours without any issues, i boot up TF2 and can crash after about 10 mins of playtime. The game goes all buggy and graphics go haywire, then it crashes along with firefox. I then have to restart, if i try to open firefox again it just shows a black screen then insta crashes! I really cant afford to replace everything at the mo. One or two items should be ok!

Any help would be amazing!

could it be my PSU?

Sounds like the PSU, when you're taxing it it falls over. I would definitely check that out before anything else.

yeah thats what im thinking/hoping! as much as i would love the AX850 its not something i can afford right now, what do people think of the TX 850? or any other psu for that kinda money?

TX 850 looks badass, I don't see how you could go wrong with that.
