got vista on it, home premium :D

so, what d'ya all think? :D

p.s. thanks goes to OV3RCLOCK3R  :)

Very tidy mate, looking pretty sweet there. Apart from the bum position of the IDE (mobo's fault) good wiring too.

Clocked it yet?

this motherboard is HORIBLE for overclocking

i've tried, and tried, and tried....

it can be stable at 2400, but....its hard work gettin it there, and pfft...

i'll just leave it at stock, the motherboard is just awkward to work with...

i think i prefered my old 975x platinum tbh :(

Ian's right about the motherboard, It's terrible, The 6300 easily does 3.6ghz at 1.4v on my asus p5b and the ballistix was easily good for 1200 4-4-4-12 but that msi motherboard is terrible, anything over 350 and it wont boot up or is unstable. Wasted 2 days over that.

Atleast Ian's happy with the pc :)

Yes they are a shocker for overclocking by all reports

Have a feeling it`s atleast in that ball-park, the inside looks the same as the ones they used for the Vintage bare-bones systems.

One of those cases where everything just about fits in and when I work on them I end up swearing cos there`s no room for fat hands to do stuff !?!?!?!

3DMark06 ~6k ??

You should move your RAM back to the way it was in the first pic. That board doesn't have "alternating" slots. Your manual should instruct you, from the looks of it, to install both modules next to each other on that specific board. Looks good though man, hope you like it!

I think the RAM looks ok as it is in the bottom pic and it also means both modules have some air around them, but having them next to eachother (nearly touching) would mean less air/space.

Also for Dual channel don't you need 1 in each colour?

CH-A (Green)

CH-B (Orange)

nice looking rig ionicle!

and yes you need one stick of ram in each channel (a and B) if you want to enable dual channel

"Conventionally" each color represents a channel.

However, how many manufs do u know that like to do their own thing ?

Abit used to color them all the same boring white >.< but "convention" then said 0+2 1+3 were paired.

Ugh, best to check u`r manual to be 100%, but I`d always go with matching colors for channels if I don`t have a ref.

EDIT: I meant to add also, if u run memtest (or 86+) it should tell u.

one in orange, and one in green is dual channel, as with all msi's :)

thanks for the comments guys :)

Next upgrade will be to get rid of that motherboard, and get somthing that can clock a chip that can reach 3.6GHz easiely, to 3.6GHz, this board wont take it past 2.4

in a p5b it can reach 3.6 ....with that memory

Well, the motherboard has been fried, so i am currently in the process of RMAing it,

and i shal get a shiney new (second hand:p) p5b deluxe to replace it with :D

the p965 chipset doesnt apear to like 1.8Volts:rolleyes:

but the problem is, it wouldnt overclock any further, so i thought i would try bumping the voltages of everything up

got to 1.45 on the cpu, 2.25 on the ram, 1.8 on the chipset...

stil didnt wanna do any higher than 2.5GHz:mad:

and then the chipset blew out :(

good ridance to the board tbh...

but....pfft:(

EDIT: i wont change my sig yet, thats what i'm on atm, seems slow by comparison though :(

Right, the P5b Deluxe Wifi-AP is here

and i have clocked my chip a bit better this time :D

no pic's of the board as of yet, as i have spent my time building it lol

here's a couple of CPU-Z screeny's though :)
