Intel's latest "Game On" ARC GPU driver deliver up to 48% performance gains

It's impressive how much effort the driver team is putting in but also crazy to think it's that much work for them to catch up and how far they still have to go.

I had a real headache with mine. My screen would randomly switch off when watching a video in a browser or looking at an animated GIF. Apparently it is something to do with the XE onboard so I disabled it, but it still persisted.

After about two weeks I finally fixed it by removing the DP cable and using a HDMI one :D

Apparently ARC isn't so good with DP.

TBH if they can get it at least mostly working before they release the bigger better cards this year it will be a win. I can't see Nvidia even bothering much with gaming now. They will just fill the shelves with massively cut down and over priced AI cards because they no longer care.

I think AMD know this too. There is no point spending millions on cards that sell in tiny numbers when you can just focus on lower price points and actually sell those cards. I don't think at any point since launch it has not been possible to get a 7900XT or XTX. So if they had competed with the 4090? yeah, not such a good idea.

The world will be a better place when these companies actually put more effort into the stuff people actually buy and not halo poser products. It will also force game devs to do more work to make sure the games run better.

This is a common issue on all our HP elitebook laptops at work. The Intel IGP behaves the same way. Momentarily switches to a black screen before popping up again, as soon as you open a website that plays any kind of video/gif/graphic animation etc.

Yup. My NUC has that IGPU and a Arc 770m. I tried disabling the IGPU but it still did it, so I guess it happens on ARC too !

As soon as I changed the DP cable for HDMI the problem vanished.

Stupid thing is I could game for 8 hours straight without a single hiccup. Yet open a browser, any browser? (I tried several) and it would get so bad I would have to alt f4 the web browser to get display back
