Intel's Gulftown Ships With Improved Heatsink

that looks like its actualy half decent, me thinks we need a mini review on them when there out, tho a seperate fan would have been nice imo, if you want a small upgrade just buy a new fan instead of a whole new hsf.

very true there about cost, it wont be to much more i wouldnt have throurt as its all metal, no need for a seperate machine line to make the plastic shrouds ect

Certainly a lot bigger than the previous ones, but then again you'd want it. 6 cores, methinks you'd be looking at 150W+ of thermal power, so no surprize really.

i dont think its matter of intel actually listening too people, i think its just a matter of the cpu been that increadibly hot shipping it with the small heatsink would be crime in itself, but yeah ive never really bought a retail chip its nearlly always been OEM as ive re used my true black sooo many times :)

Yea, im impressed with te look of that! I was expecting just a taller version of the current useless thing haha. That actually looks like it might work quite well, just upgrade the fan.

Looks really quite nice. I cant help but think there's going to be a lot of HSF manufacturers out there that aren't going to be best pleased at Intel for this move though.

Yeah, I'm expecting the whole fiasco with MS and IE all over again. 3rd party HS manufacturers will sue Intel for "abusing" it's "monopoly" in the market :))

They will loose in the free world, but in EU they will surely win. D'oh!
