intel system

Hey i have a old intel system i wanna get going

its a 233mhz machine

wiv 32mb ram

no hdds (thats the problem)

When i put a HDD in it it wont recognize it and will say Insert Bootable Media

But it is a Manufactered one GATEWAY2000 System

so i was wondering do i need some software for the hdd to be reconized

You probably just need to format the hard disk and install an operating system on it.

Try booting from a Windows CD and see if you can install Windows on the hard disk. :)

It won't recognize ur cd rom drive? If not then u either have a bad drive, the cable plugged in wrong, or a jumper set wrong on the back of the drive.

U won't be able to access a hard disk that hasn't been formatted with no bootable OS on it.
 
You then need to boot from CD-ROM and install an OS. It's going to continue to say "Insert Bootable Media" until a Master Boot Record is written to the drive from an OS install.

Ok that would be the BIOS not finding your hard drives...

What I'm talking about is the OS installer not finding your hard drives... Which is what we've been talking about in the last 10 posts. :rolleyes:
