Intel Sandy Bridge Memory

Now my understanding is that the i5 2500K is best for Dual Channel Memory and not for Triple Channel Memory. Am I reading this right.

Can I get any dual channel memory or do I need to get one for Sandy Bridge architecture to get the best performance. Any ideas when these memories are going to be on the market. The only ones I know are the ones mentioned in OC3D.

(So far no prices or locations from where I can get them in the UK).

all the mobos are dual channel, so if you get triple channel ram, you'll only be able to use 2 sticks

not true, you can use 3 sticks, there are 4 slots

That's the point he is trying to make.

There is no such thing as "special" dual or triple channel memory. It's just the fact that you get either 2 or 3 of the exact same modules bundled together.

Sandy Bridge supports dual channel memory which has (in theory) double the bandwidth of single channel. So if you put either 2 or 4 sticks of ram in your SB board they will run in dual channel. However if you put in 3 sticks they will run single channel, because there is no triple channel support on Sandy Bridge. I would recommend putting in only two sticks, because running 3 sticks in single channel won't be benefitial in any way.
