Intel officially announce their new Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X series processors

So £100 more for the 7820X than the Ryzen 1800X. Not priced too badly for Intel tbh.

But only 28 lanes.
You couldn't even use SLI fully and add another PCI-e card.
So for me, that would be my sound card and networking card out of the window.
They didn't even bother thinking about lowering the 7900X...

AMD on the other hand is offering 64 lanes on their HEDT.
You could do full 4 way sli or crossfire.
Now it's just about pricing.

I just dont get what intel are thinking, 4 core extreme wtf, I do wanna see a 1600 vs 7800x and see if its worth twice the money, in intels mind if its 20% better then they call it a win.

The problem is, the majority will still buy Intel instead, even if they don't need the extra performance. We're all so glad there is competition again, but who is actually going to buy from the competition? This doesn't really apply to the folks on this forum, but the common thread (pun intended) among the masses is, 'Hey, I'm glad AMD are competitive again so I can buy an Intel CPU/Nvidia GPU for less.' If enough people say that, AMD will not remain competitive for long and Intel will return to stagnation.

I think many people will buy AMD. If TR comes in nice price point with similar performance it will be a big bada boom. 44 lanes on all CPU's, and on intel you need to put many more coins for more lanes, yea intel won't sell as many as they were until now. And if Vega comes near with better price we will see many AMD themed builds. I will probably be among the first ones. ;)

I really hope so. Every new Ryzen system I see makes me smile a little.
