I think its a bit unfair. AMD only has around 10% of the market share of CPU sales, and yet Intel still tries to bring them dow even further. Imagine what would happen if AMD closed down, higher CPU prices would prevail for all!
intel are on dodgey ground here,If they try to force AMD to shutdown,then they will be classed as a monoply and that will not be allowed to happen,sounds more like they are just after some cash as the economic bite is hitting them as well

It may be a good thing as then it would be a monopoly, goverment would have to do something to get another business to step in. Maybe even fund AMD. It could lead to something good.
