Intel

Not a name you hear thats synonomous with "Overclocking", "good cooling" and certainly not "watercooling"

But it appears they have a department full of enthusiasts that have been working on some systems that make their Extreme Edition processors go sky high....and creating a new Intel "stock" cooler that does it easily for the consumer.

Bit-Tech Have the scoop on the new cooler, which is designed to last Three years without any topping up or failure.

Made of steel tubing, a copper base and a centrifugal brushless pump this thing was running a P4 EE @ 5GHz @ 61*C

wtf, lol thats a little unusual for Intel. Perhaps this and the soon to be success of conroe would suggest that they're hoping to get a good lead over AMD.

Intel really are trying to fight back. I geuss they must be fed up of finishing second...out of two.

Im with Ham, i think this is an attempt to catch up with AMD (not complaining by any means lol). Also, i look forward to AMDs response :)

Intel are continually researching new stuff so it makes sense :)

Intels new chips are set to wipe the floor with AMD unless they have something uber amazing planned :)

Free extra radiator when you buy a chip! ;)

I'm sure we'll figure out some pump mods and some block mods quickly.

I spoke to some of the Hexus bods and they confirmed that whilst Intel will only produce BTX reference boards...most companies will be making ATX boards for a looong time to come.

This cooler is specced for ATX too though :)

They'll hafta ship it with something other than hard piping then so that it can be mounted in different cases.

yeah, I've been looking around and still no informaiton on the actual cpu block design. I have a fealing it may be either a square cut, an oddball design, or an apogee style.

Yes I'd be quite interested to see the block design myself. From the looks of it they did a decent job with it.
