I had an 8Mhz 8086 in my Amstrad 1640 PC back in 1989. Dos 3.1, GEM, 30MB hard card (in one of the ISA slots - one of the others was taken up with an adlib sound card). Wing commander would run when it came out but at a frame rate that would make you wince.
