Intel K-Series i3 Kaby Lake CPU has been listed online

No that's just a low end i5. I wish the i5k was that cheap!
Absurd pricing though. They are doing this to prepare for a fight against Zen

In the UK the 2500k was £150-£170 at launch. With the exchange rate as it is today that $177 is highly likely to be £170 or more.

It seems they are pee taking as much as they can before Zen hits. IMO only stupid people will buy KL chips. Any one with half a brain knows Zen is coming and knows it will be cheaper (not necessarily cheap, but cheapER).

Last chance saloon for Intel IMO.

If ZEN brings out an overclockable Quad core cpu at that price it is going to be a massive slap to intel's face

TBH dude the quad core is probably THE most important weapon in Zen's armory. It's the one that 90% will turn to.

God I hope it's good.

What does a 2500k have to do with anything? That is pretty much 5 gens old. Skylake is what I was talking about and the relevant cpu(or really any past couple CPU gens tbh, all the low end i5's were in that price range)
And the 2500k in the US even back then was $229 at launch. Same with Ivy. Only after that did Intel start asking for more and more with every gen. IDK where you are getting the $177 from? You can't even get them now?

The 2500k is a I5 unlocked CPU and was the same price that they are apparently asking for I3 Kaby.

So it has everything to do with what I said.

I5 3570k £173.04 at launch

So as I said, and stand firmly by, if this I3 is really $177, and with the exchange rate that amount there abouts in £ then what I said was bang on. Intel want I5k money for an I3.

But... is anyone missing the 2 core 4 thread with OC thing? Looks like find. If only the pentium k was like this.

Heres to hoping we get a better price than what is there..

People can moan as much as they want Intel and for that matter Nvidia can charge what they want and PEOPLE WILL STILL PAY THE MONEY FOR IT, Cause in most people's opinion Intel is better than AMD.

if Zen is any good, that's an unknown yet really isn't it ...

I suppose this is to keep the board makers quiet and stop any more overclockable non-K's for Intel ?

Not here. Last card I bought was a GTX 950 @ £30 inc. It clocks like a demon under water (it would really lol).

Before that a used Titan XM and I'm good. I spent £480.

I am avoiding Pascal until either the prices drop or there is a better cheaper AMD alternative, but even then I am beginning to question what I actually need to game. Just because a few really poor games have come out doesn't mean I want to throw money at the problem.

And the worrying part is (and I mean no offense here guys, I'm one myself !) even the posers are beginning to question these prices. So yeah, as I said, I like showing off myself (I'm a real tw@ me !) and even I have had to yank on the brakes. I know this guy who has bought every single Titan yet apart from Titan XP. Every one has their limits.

Before I just bought and listened to different headphones and amps, recently I have been into water cooling but yes, anything but stupidly priced GPUs that last about five minutes.

But I am not paying £650 to run poor games badly.

I wasn't even talking about or people like you, I have to keep saying this "I'm talking about people in general"

I think Intel will sell these without much issue cause the general public will not moan about pricing they will just pay it, it's only people like us who will moan about it.

Yeah I know dude I was just offering up a personal answer/reply from my POV :)

I wonder what sort of market there is for this?
I guess an enthusiast with a low(er) budget that wants to overclock???
I'd imagine in most gaming loads, a lower clocked i5 would still come out on top
unless the application doesn't take advantage of multiple threads.

I wonder how it will overclock, seems like there hasn't been much room for big clocks without very effective cooling, a mix that an i3 doesn't really fit into.
If it doesn't overclock well, might as well go the i3 6300 route and get a non-z board to really hit a lower price point.

Now if i3's topped out ~$150 with this new model sitting pretty on high, that could be something a little more attractive, especially considering the price premium for all the supporting cooling, mobo etc which really sets that baseline a lot higher than an h110 / stock cooler combo that I imagine most i3's get dropped into.

Which is fair enough you know what people are like from outside of the "Tech Circle"

Most "normal" users of computers think Intel is better than AMD, I have my reasons why i like Intel over AMD which is not going to change.
