These leaks are because Intel is not ready. They are leaking stuff like this to keep people from buying AMD and make them wait.
Intel are having supply issues.

Exactly. Also "leaks" - when everything is being "leaked" it is no longer a leak. This is on purpose by Intel. Same thing with the NVIDIA "leaks" for RTX that were happening.
Luckily on that note we will get some real world testing and info/graphs shortly in a few days thanks to sites like OC3D

No, but I would hazard a guess and say that Intel would have liked to have released it already. They are giving AMD a massive head start, giving them so long to sell their new CPUs with no reply.
Mind you that being said Intel seem to be on a different planet when it comes to prices, so even if they were out they still wouldn't sell anywhere near as many as they would have before Ryzen crashed the party.
I think after all of these years people are finally beginning to realise you don't need a top end CPU for gaming.

I mean it SHOULD be, my stock 2700X @3.7Ghz all core hits 1842 on the stock cooler.
I'm not sure then if the score is fake, or if the 9900k isn't actually that impressive.

It's "only" an 8 core CPU. No more or less than Ryzen.

Yes but if it's only scoring 280ish more than my STOCK 2700X when the 9900K is OC'd to 5Ghz all core, you should see the problem.
I'm pretty confident when my thermal grizzly kryonaut arrives tomorrow and I slap my 280mm AIO on it I can OC up to 4.2Ghz all core and get pretty close to a 2000 score.
It depends on your GPU, the resolution you are playing at and the game in question. The 2080 ti shows signs of being CPU bound at resolutions up to 3440x1440 while using a 8086k@5GHz for quite a few games. Some of the benchmarks at 4K look to be CPU bound as well.
The problem is, are these 9th gen Intel CPUs going to be any better gaming wise compared to 8th gen Intel CPUs? :\

I may have considered one down the road but seeing that price just cracked me up. AMD isn't as cocky.
I have heard reviewers say we're CPU limited with the RTX cards, but also say many that didn't say it. We may get there but not right now, I think.

Well even if we are, 6c/6t is plenty and as such the current i5 will perform as well as the 9900K as long as it's overclocked. Games are only CPU limited if they don't multithread well. Only exception to that rule is, as far as I know, ashes of the singularity and that's closer to a benchmark.

It depends on your workload. It is not all about cinebench score, and render times. Any Threadripper beats 8700k in cinebench and rendering, but when you use 8700k, your workflow in Premiere (scrolling through video, importing recordings...) is much smoother (HardwareCanuks have video about this). Also Intel CPUs are far superior in some tasks. Almost all Adobe apps work better on Inel. For Autodesk apps, and Music production there is no other option than Intel.
I work with Music production, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and play games. My brother is an architect, and works in AutoDesk Revit. For me and him it is Intel all the way. For now at least. My 4790K served me well all these years, but i feel it is a time for an upgrade, and I am very keen on new Intel releases. I have followed Ryzen release because i am technology enthusiast, but i would never buy one because it doesn't fit my workload. Simple as that.
