*putting aside for 1 moment I totally accept the need for pushing forward with smaller scale integration and progress*
Is there a market requirement for an E7000+ ? Other than out with larger scale dies and in with the new, progression and all that.

It`s not as simple a question as u might think. I totally understand that there is a requirement for a whole range of processors, and with the likes of (just as an example) the E4300/E6300/6400 being eol`d, there has to be something to fill the gap.
At any given time, Intel seem to have 50 or so processors available to purchase. Alot of which are minor in their differences, but hughly different in price.
And with the proposition of number of cores, 1, 2, 3, 4... 8. If u presently have an E6300/E6600, what would ur first choice of upgrade be ? If money is no factor, u`ll possibly w8 for a Q9000. If u are looking for straight forward value - Q6600 or cheaper still E6750.
These in-between processors, of which there are dozens - by this I mean their costing in hardly any way reflects their performance vS pricing - why do they bother with these ? Purely a cash crop for those not able to advance an E6750 to E6850 performance and will pay the difference ?
The likes of E2140/E4300 etc I understand as the oem market love them, they`re dual cores and can be sold in machines as such, infact alot of good oc`ers like them as they reputedly clock like heck.
