Intel becomes the latest company to back out of CES 2022

I just don't understand why some still seem to persist with these kinds of events around the world, when there's still an ongoing pandemic.

Sure, being vaccinated is good and all, but not everyone is and it doesn't make you immune to either being infected again and/or to transmit the virus. Albeit to a much smaller degree than someone who isn't vaccinated, but still a risk.

We are still in an pandemic and new mutations are surfacing, which have a much higher spread than previous ones. Just do it digitally, stay home, be with your loved ones instead.

I don't see the point in physical events for PC components period :D Though I guess it's a different story for journalists

Just trying to put some perspective out there....

Remember this is an industry event, not a retail/consumer attended event. These events are for publicity as well as industry folks getting together to socialize and maintain relationships.

I was mixed on going this year because computers are the black sheep of CES. It SUCKS going up and down the strip to different resorts to get to your meeting on time but in these tough times, relationships with manufacturers helps with allocations at the distributor level. If I can't get parts I can't feed my family. So, I will be attending but it seems A LOT of companies will not be there.
