Intel 6th Generation Platform and CPUs Detailed

Might actually skip Skylake and wait for Cannonlake which is Skylakes successor out in 2016 and on the 10nm process.

I want a good performance jump not just 5-10% <_<

I might have missed it, apologiesif it's in the article, is there any info on how many pcie lanes each cpu has yet?

So .. this is a step DOWN from x99 ...? Hardly any PCIe lanes, so no SLI fun - especially not if you fancy any of the new storage options.

X99 is a completely different platform, aimed at enthusiasts and professionals. Skylake is NOT the successor of Haswell-E

Intel has had 2 separate platforms on the consumer side for a long time, I'm surprised that people still confuse them

i was starting to get the upgrade bug but i swapped from win 7 to 8.1 today and it is running better than ever (slightly lower gpu clock but 500 more 3dmark extreme points). ill keep my sbe a little longer till we see if skylake E is whats next wouldnt mind a bonkers 8 core.

wow already a 6th Generation cpu it does not seen that long ago they realest the last Generation of cpu

Don't expect to much on 10nm.. they are all about efficiency. Which is good for their mobile, not so much there desktop.

I'm interested to see how the 6700k stack up to the 4790k, I'm on a ROG z97 Hero board which we were told Broadwell would fit but what's happening with that?

If Skylake is this close,

How does Broadwell fit in?

Is it already here with no Devils canyon successor planned?

Does ddr4 make much of a difference over fast ddr3 (2133mhz)?

No. You won't see a difference at all. In more than 2 way Crossfire or SLI you may see a bump as data transfer is faster, but i wouldn't expect more than 5% improvement there. It's not worth it currently as nothing really takes advantage of it.

I actually just googled your question for my validation on my previous text.. i stand corrected. Just google it.. got quite a lot of info on it.
