I'm confused. There will be desktop broadwell-CPU's, right? Not just those low powered ones?

Nonetheless, they look pretty decent, and that TDP even more so. Quite interested in how the new Intel HD Graphics will be performing too.

they will come later.

I think that is a very reasonable guess. What happened to the days the new desktop CPU's from Intel would hit the shelves in april though? :(

There's no real competition actually for intel's i5s and i7s from AMD, so why put them out now when they're not needed? The time will come. That time will be when AMD desides to update their AM3+ CPUs because they're getting really old.

Well considering Z97 was touted as the socket for Broadwell and seeing as Intel just love new sockets I can see Broadwell needing Z97 MK II.

Funny thing is, the other engineers at intel working on Skylake have had less troubles on 14nm and its rumored to still come out end of 2015. Products such as laptops probably won't be out by 2016 though. Interesting to see them release these so close together. If they weren't under pressure because of mobile then i think they wouldn't care as much... but power draw is a serious issue so they are forced to release asap.

Yeah I guess you're right! I'd like to see an octa-core CPU with steamroller cores. The seem nice in the new APU's (even the Athlon 860k, which are supposed to be great, even for €80,- or so). Make it happen, AMD!

While on the RED team, amd is preparing to (t)roll out their 1000W TDP eco-friendly 24-core CPU with intergrated 295 graphics

AMD gave up on CPUs ages ago. The 9590 was pretty much just a cheeky move to wind people up IMO. Yeah, it keeps up with intel alot more then other AM3+ cpus but at some expense. Still crap for single threaded tasks and if you don't live in a fridge it makes everything quite toasty.

The 8320 is the best CPU that came out on AM3+ IMO (excluding the Phenom x6, which is technically AM3). They're still competitive because of the price.

They perform so badly in single threaded tasks (games i'm refering to) because the DX11 API puts so much onto one thread instead of evenly spreading the load across multiple threads. DX12 so far seems to do a much better job and hopefully it helps AMD.

I hope AMD make a proper come back, Would love to have a decent AMD setup again :)

Will they use new socket or will it fit the 1150? I just ordered a brand new asus z97 pro gamer and it will be in stock 10th Jan, going from a gaming laptop. :cussing:

Well Intel did say Z97 was for Broadwell that's the whole reason Z97 was released but knowing them they will release Z97-2 and say "Well to get the most compatibility you have to get the mark 2".
