ok i set llc to 50% (high) and also put spread speaktrum on, and its done it four times now whilst typing this, only this time it switched off and back on again but came straight back to windows as normal with this page still open within a couple seconds, The cpu is sitting at 31c when this happened and the gpu at 38c

should i revert back to 3.3ghz and then allow asus AI suite to auto overclock?

actually, ive managed to figure the problem lol, my keyboard has an off switch (or standy by i presume) and it was stuck causing the pc to switch off when it wanted too lol hopefully i dont have any problems now

Ive since then, ran asus auto tuning and got myself back to 4.3ghz safely

That is wrong!With Sandybridge you want that on not off,it is the opposite of S775.

when you mean spread spectrum do you mean cpu or vrm spectrum

now you have to see if it's stable what volt's is the auto tune putting thru the cpu ....

on idle it sits at 1.000V and under full load it sits at 1.280V

The asus TurboV system actually overclocked it to 4.3ghz first, then stability tested it from 4.4ghz upto 4.7ghz where it stopped, so i told it to keep 4.3ghz, I know with a better water cooling system i can get past the 4.7ghz mark

yea i have the same board .but that gap on the volts between idle and full load can't be good someone correct me if iam wrong it there more chance of a volt spike.

surely an autoclock is safer than a manual clock? im nto sure as im fairly new, i see what you mean though by it down clocking itself to 1.6ghz, perhaps a permenant overclock?

iam sure if you ask anyone here they will tell you to do a manual overclock. the reason it clocking down is becasue speedstep is on it does that because the system is not underload but when u need the bit extra u will see it clock back up.

you can turn speed step off in the bios

im not so sure myself how to overclock it manually safely, Ive never done it before, The PC is only just a few weeks old and was OC'd by a friend on a forum who built it for me, ive asked him about it and said i shouldnt worry too much, but if anyone has any input please do

Write down all the configuration from the auto clock then go into the bios and see how much of it you feel you can apply manually. You may be pleasantly suprised

where can i find all the auto configurations? the bios itself? or somewhere else? still trying to learn all these different things lol

Also if its in windows 7 somewhere can you direct me to it? ive not longed used W7

in the bios go to the top right hand side and click advanced mode ....

Im not sure what you mean by getting all the figures from the auto overclock? If i re-did those figures with a manual overclock it would just be the same wouldnt it?
