Installing SATA Raptor On ASUS SK8V

I cant get my 1 sata HD Raptor to install, I have copied the Driver from the Motherboard Cd , But it does not get recoginesed in Windows even after the driver had been installed by pressing F6, in Win XP set up.

Any help appriceted?

I know this may be different as I have the K8V SE Deluxe but if there are two SATA controllers on the board you need to make sure the drive is plugged into the correct controller the drivers for. If in doubt and you do have 2 controllers install all the drivers.

Not sure if that helps as I don't know the layout of that board but I had the same problem before noticing the 2 controllers (Promise and VIA).

Yeah there is 2 controllers 1 set of SATA s look like they are for raid though.

What u can put them on seperate disks and install both drivers when u preess F6??

Yea there is one set of RAID and one for normal SATA which will probably be RAID aswell but to a lesser degree.

You can make 2 disks and load the different drivers for the 2 controllers when you hit F6 yes, I did this with the VIA and Promise controllers on mine. It also doesn't matter on SATA which controller you use or which socket you use either, I would suggest using socket 1 on either of them tho.

The RAID will only kick in when you have 2 drives and an array setup just like an IDE RAID will only kick in if you set up an array, if no array is setup then it works as a standard controller with RAID abilities.
