Can't wait to hear more on this, here's to hoping for some competition in the high end sector of the cpu market (unlikely I know but one can hope)

Yeah, some good competition here would be great. The move to 16nm will be great for AMD. Intel's current 22nm process is a FinFET process and they will soon be moving to 14nm. This will likely be the first time in ages that AMD has close to process parity to Intel. 28/32nm vs 22nm FinFET isn't much of a contest.

Lets hope this Architecture is a good one, as an updated process can only go so far. AMD definitely have the expertise to do it, but right now we can only hope.

In the mean time everyone who needs cpu performance will move to intel and all amd will be left with will be low end market, although i would argue that's all they got at this point aswell, so will they be able to regain any foothold in mid-high end cpu market, doubtful unless zen really kicks some ass, at this point there is no sense in going amd for gaming or any sorts of productivity workloads, i hope they manage it, but so long without competition really isn't good for the market it two years away

Well 2016 will be an interesting year that's for sure

i know this has been a big thing for amd for quite a while. with the x86+arm thing.
But i dont think its something Intell could not do tomorrow if they wanted too. they are already willing to fabricate 14nm arm chips for others, they just wont make them as intell processors, or for consumer grade. and they can do fpga + xeon on a single socket already..
So everything they need to do it is there already..

whats really puzzeling me though is why they are working on compatibility for programs that are designed for arm with x86 (yes they have managed to get compatibility better, but then some one designs something new and they have to start again seems like a bit of a waste of resources.) rather than to actually just make their own arm chips or arm + x86 chips. i guess they either know something. have plans. or are just a bit stuborn.
It just seems strange that they would spend so much on mobile chip makers buying % of them or buying out the company and then not just make a better mobile chip thnan every one els.

at the moment amd do seem to have the mobile market pretty well wrapped up.
but i would not be suprized if intel turn round in the next few years and say. here is our server based arm+x86 chip. and we will be rolling out similar ones under the pentium name to consumer grade mobile devices.

i think they 1st have to finally understand that windows phones arent going to work, and when ms try to integrate one os for everything people start getting mad. so x86 for mobile devices is probably not going to be the big seller.
they also needs to comprehend there is no point making a x86 for mobile and desctops because No one wants an atom in their desk top.

It's good to hear that they are woriking on a new enthusiast processor. I hope it will be give us a secondary option and will give a real competitor against intel's cpus. We need that competition to lower those high cpu prices.
