Hi all,

I'm looking to buy 2 SSD's i haven't really been happy with the 840 EVO for me i have found boot up time not to be that quick, So the ones i'm looking at some of the Corsair ones i have done a Theme build so i'm just looking for Pro's and Con's of the Corsair ones, I'm not looking at any other brands, The SSD's will be used for OS & Games.

Thanks all

I don't know what you consider as slow but i've been happy with my 840 evo. Takes around 13sec~ from cold boot to desktop, cant comment on the corsair ones, no one ever has them stocked here in finland.

I think mine is longer than that, but i will check the time

The 840 evos had a firmware bug which means they slowdown over time. Samsung released a patch to fix it. I'd be tempted to try that as my 840 evos I run are pretty nippy and my boot evo (a 240gb one) loads me into windows in about 10 seconds.

Thanks for that, but my EVO has always been slow i have look for the firmware and i can't find it i went to the Samsung website but can't find it also the software saids This is the latest firmware, i have EXT0BB6Q

Neutron XT's, Neutron GTX's, Force SSD's? There are quite a lot of 'Corsair ones' on the quiet. What is the theme, I don't want to trawl threads just to make a relevant reply. :)

I really rate GTX's, i've got two and they are solid and epicly fast even with my stupid 1m long SATA I cables. My friend has a pair of 120GB's too both RAID0 setups. They are expensive for the size, it looks like the XT's will be a little more reasonable. I think I might be tempted to pick one up if OCUK happened to have some next time I drive past.

If your not running Windows 8 already by the way that's definitely the way to go to improve boot times. Absolutely staggering even with lesser hardware and of course RAID isn't the way to go for optimal boot times.

Well I'm running Win 7 Pro, don't really like 8.1 i have it on my other system, The place i'm looking at getting them they have the Corsair ones on Sale, The theme is Black & Red, Not really sure about the "LS" drives tho, I'm wondering to if the "GS" drive the only reason why there on sale is cause there EOL.

Corsair Force Series GS 128GB $119.00 AUD
Corsair Force Series GS 240GB $179.00 AUD
Corsair Neutron Series GTX 240GB $249.00 AUD
Corsair Force Series LS 120GB $105.00 AUD
Corsair Force Series LS 240GB $189.00 AUD

I just did a Cold Boot it took about 25 seconds so i guess that is ok for windows 7 pro

Not sure if it was you that made a similar post on here where we suggested to stick with the Samsung..

But anyway. Good luck with the reliability of your future corsairs. My 840pros only take 12sec for win7 and approx 11 for windows 8.1. Cant complain with that at all.

PLE have the new Corsair XT's soon if you're interested https://www.ple.com.au/ViewItem.aspx?InventoryItemId=617272

I haven't had any dealings thought them so i'm not really sure about them, i have seen with your posts when you were building your new system you said they were good, but everyone gets different service when dealing with these companies

No that wasn't me this is the only post i have made to do with SSD's, i take it your not a fan of corsair ssd's, IMO i'm not really a fan of the samsung evo drive maybe i should have gone with the 840 pro at the time

One of my mates just bought some kit through them and he also had no issues, all you can do is try them and if not happy don't use them again

Yeah, I check the price of the 240GB and its like outside of my price range, I'm a strange person i would just rather buy everything through one store.

The plan is to not to have the SSD to blend into the build i want it to be more visible instead of being stealth cause i own a 750D case

If you have the samsung software it allows you to update it through that.

Yeah i know i have done a firmware update, my program is telling me "This is the latest firmware, I have been to the samsung website to see if there is a newer version of the firmware but even the website is telling me i have the latest version, so i don't know what to do

It's not a fast drive. You need the RAPID thing enabled. Not really worth it because with it turned on all it does is speed up when needed.

Ok then, there is something else i can't work out on my OS drive its saying that i have used about 72GB and i can't work out how i have got that much installed on it Windows Update must have used up alot of space on the drive
