In The Fight for a Smaller PC

This seems like a dumb idea since computers always need upgrading, and this will make them more expensive to replace. Also if you are going to need a keyboard, mouse and other peripherals, a small PC hardly adds a huge amount of room.

After looking at the website, even more problems come to mind, firstly the shape of these prevents them from working in standard American power outlet holes. Also they claim on there website that it is impossible for their systems to get viruses because they have no hard drive, this is ridiculous it has flash memory so it can.

You create your own hole, and uses its own flexi jack system. You use POE power which uses a maximum of 5watts. You dont use regular outlets. Also, getting rid of a huge desktop PC creates alot of extra desk room in a cubicle. And also, it wouldnt need to be upgraded since all your extra crap comes off of a main Citrix server. Great for business dude, and horrible for a mainstream user. This isnt aimed towards people like us but big companies.

It's a very good idea from a Citrix/thin client environment perspective as it takes up a whole lot less room. Get a virtual keyboard, wireless mouse and a mini wireless projecter and you've got some space saving for sure ;)

From a support perspective it ould be a nightmare if it went wrong

these haev been out for a couple of years, as kemp said it's a thin client, So you would need an application server for it. Tried one before, there good for basic stuff. Haredly any education software works on them though :(

We got Citrix running Win 2k3 and it runs anything we put on it basically

You need some hawt servers tho (we got upwards of 450)

As everyone else has basically said - this device serves no purpose other than to boot up a really basic OS, which then connects to a Citrix/TS server where you can utilise all of the applications and power of the server. A great idea, but essentially pointless for anything other than the office.

Can anybody send me a PM or something explaining the Flex Jack? I might want to use that in my future house if it does what im hoping.
