In event of a leak...or more a crack???

Im at a lan atm...and for some reason my pump outlet has now cracked...

It is leaking a droplet every 10 seconds and is worrying me as this was fine before arriving here yesterday.

What would be the best way to fix it up? It an acrylic oclabs top. Iv grabbed whatever i can at the moment (wrapped some insulation tape around and put a lot of tissue paper around it).

Some kind of sealant or what?

Dont have anything to hook up my phone with.

Its just on the underside of it. When mr admin comes back ill see if hes got any. :(

Damnnnit

Ok none of that to hand. Is there anything else more temporary that would be classed as everyday stuff? The tape is slowing it down alas it is seeping through. Will i need to drain it at home, seal up with silicon/sealant then reloop?

All i can think of for now is to keep retaping and keep tissue to hand. What am i going to do wen the time comes to sleep?

what coolant are you using? although its still bad, if its feserone you can worry a little less about frying your pc.

hmm not really. I think it wont be as bad when i turn it off (pump wont be running) and plenty of tape is doing the trick. What would be the best move when i get home? Drain, cover crack in poly cement or silicon? Which would be best? Or even the tape?

is it an actual crack in the top? is it coming out from around the barb? all else fails use ducktape =/ sorry to hear that

its a crack in the bit of the top which the barbs screw into. in this case the outlet, just along the bottom of it.

Ill try the plumber tape. I can always ask my dad what he think (builder). Polycement coupled with plumber tape should work.

Aside from obviously replacing the busted bits, I think ur doing what a plumber would do if u called him out and he didn`t have the parts on him.

Some `temporary` plumbing fixes can last ages. But beware not to rely on the existing crack not growing. Thing is with regular household water too is that the "minerals" and shizzle in it can stick in cracks and help to seal also - u don`t have that luxury with the liquids in wc.

Ptfe tape is in every decent plumber`s kit cos it solves so many issues. A lot of plumbers use the tape just on installations to give them the best seal they can get. Course, we`re not talking about copper tubing here.

I bet the majority of frequent wc dablers have got ptfe tape in their tool box.

Im home now. Just drained, put polycement along the crack, put pfte tape along the barb on the inside, then wrapped pfte tape around the glued side. Leavin to dry overnight and hopefully it will hold :)

Didn't you just buy that mate? surely you can return it for a new one? (or did you get a bit over enthusiastic with the spanner?)

Ye it is. Its literally under a week old and no it was not overtightened as it hand tightened and then tightened about a quarter of a turn with a spanner. Would have cracked instantly right?

I dno why it cracked later on other than weakened material perhaps? It wasnt exactly under stress from a tight bend or anything.

Reckon its RMA-able?
