Recently I bought a noname PCI wireless reciever from a site (am I allowed to mention it? :X). This is not really the problem, but what follows is.
After proper hardware installation the windows XP 'found new hardware' wizard popped up. So I inserted the included miniCD and let it search there. No hits. I tried installing the included wlan utility. After running the setup.exe which installed a lot of crap on my computer the program said "driver not loaded".
So I started doing some research. First I looked up the details in the device manager of the 'network adapter' as windows called it, and it returned the following:
After looking up 9066 as DEV on pcidatabase.com I got the following result:
Hawking HWP54G 802.11b/g Wireless PCI Adapter (Rev T2)
So, let's go bug Hawking
After digging through their crappy site with removed download links I got exactly the same program as the not working one on the miniCD. Time to contact Hawking. Two long emails and one short reponse later I got this happy message from them:
I have disassembled the card as far as responsible and have taken some pictures of it. Could anyone identify the card and / or point me at some _working_ drivers?
img 1: Card in its full 'glory'
img 2: Removed the cover. This unveils something interesting: the PCI card is actually a PCI to MiniPCI converter with a WiFi MiniPCI card in it.
img 3: The MiniPCI card removed, right side up.
img 4: Also with the MiniPCI card removed, but now with the back side up.
img 5: Closeup of the serial numbers on the back of the MiniPCI card.
Only the XG-650E number returned something on google. The one hit I could make any sense of is this one:
http://www.zcom.com.cn/chinese/products/proddetail.aspx?class_id=8&sort_id=81&prod_id=35
It perfectly displays my MiniPCI card, but I cannot read chinese. When changing the "chinese" into "english" in the URL I do not get any page content. The english pages (http://www.zcom.com.cn/english/products/products.aspx) do not give any mention of a MiniPCI card similar to mine.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can still do?

This isn’t our product. All the HWP54g actually say HWP54g. It sounds like it’s another brand using a similar chipset with ours but that isn’t our product.
