I train a under 11's football team (soccer for you US folks). With the stupid rules the FA force on this year (regarding ages) we've not been able to get enough players to register our team meaning we have to fold. I'm really annoyed as the kids we had really enjoyed as well as both me and my mate.

I dont know what to do on sunday mornings anymore :(

my pc isnt good enough for games. the lag was real bad over the wireless connection. Having said that im trialing power line adapters and im seeing lan speeds/ response times

Hmm i didnt quite get what you where saying there. So something happend and you cant train them? Or they cant play or what? Im kinda confuzzled.

I obviously don`t know, but from playing in outside-of-school sports when I were a lad, every year the authority body would change rules, rejig leagues, become strict on something silly, and maybe in this case change the ages for kids to perform in certain leagues or something. Then u can find half of u`r team qualify for 1 and the rest split between another 2, hence messing up the tight knit team u had. Oh and give u like 2 weeks to submit paperwork for stuff.

Anyone who knows about collecting paperwork, passport photos and signitures for anything up to 20 kids who u may see 3 times in two weeks if u`r lucky, will know that`s pretty difficult. And they usually want a fee.

Screws many a team up every year, splits them about, and some kids/coaches don`t move onto anything cos mostly they just want to play and not mess about.

Might be all wrong tho.

The under 11 league has an age requirement. on the 31 august, the player must be 10, not under and not over. The player must also be in year 6 at school.

This is the only year you have to be 10, other years (say under 13's) you can be 11 or 12 and it doesnt matter which school year.

It's hard enough for under 11 teams as the year before (under 10's :p ) is mini soccer leagues, meaning 7 a side.

We just couldnt get enough players to play for the team and had to fold as the minimum amount you need is 9.

Bonkers tbh.

I think making too many rules on kids events at that young an age is rediculous.

I bet u can give a good handful of reasons how and why a talented 9 year old should be ok to play in the same team/league as a 10 year old who pretty much likes sports in general and will play anywhere. And vice-versa - along with those of both ages who just want to give it a go.

Ideal situation imo, would be if they asked all the registered clubs towards the end of the school years (so it`s b4 they break for summer, i.e. something to do also), what kids they have interested including `possibles`.

Then arrange the leagues/comps so that u can accomodate as close to 100% of those kids as u can.

Way I see it, they`re presenting their ideas and getting the clubs & kids to mold to what they want. Imo this is far too early in a kids life to be doing this.

If 60 kids want to play football, I`d want to make damn sure they get a chance to do so, rather than submit to the clubs that although u have 60 kids, only 40 of them comply enough to fit into teams that will fit in our leagues/comps.

Oh i find that extremely rediculous!!! Seriously man wtf. Not everykid in that category is going to be exactly 10 y/o. And what does it matter anyways? Rules and regulations are getting extremely out ahand. And becasue some kids arent getting a fighting chance to play i doubt this will stay in affect for very long.
