Just as the title says, I broke into my 1155 SB build last night and was putting my 16gigs of ripjaws into my ME IV z68 board... And well, it felt as if i was FORCING them into the slots just to get the (1) top tab to click down. I felt like connecters were being scratched and damaged, but at the same time it was the only way i could see them even getting into place was with a little force. NOW this is NOT by any means my first rodeo but it is my first time with 1155 motherboards and dual channel memory. Is this normal? I dont see any damage of any nature, Im just worried there might be a chance that i did? D: But just to make sure i didnt screw both sets up only have 8 gigs in at a time till i can post.

I have done some builds in the past where the memory needed needed alot of extra force to get in. But never seemed to damage or effect anything. I have only done one build on 1155 and they didn't seem to need much force to get in. So not sure if that helps you any. Guess you'll know for sure when it posts.

I've noticed on these new boards that there only seems to be one tab that clicks. I prefer the old style which had a tab on each side that clicked - it was a more positive feel.

You shouldn't need to apply extreme force or something may break. Instead of trying to put them in at 90 degrees have you tried with a slight angle (higher at the tab end) and see if that's easier.

Hi,

I tend to put the lower end of the memory in first, apply some pressure to ensure it's firmly at the end, before finally applying force to seat it fully. I didn't have any particular trouble on my Asus Z68 board that I recall.

If both ends unclip you've got more room to pop the memory in certainly, but the above method works well when they've fitted just the one (upper in my case) ram clip.

Possibly it was just a tight fit...if it all works fine then don't worry too much at this stage.

Cheers,

Scoob.
