Huge Gaming Boost! AMD Ryzen 7 8700G CPU specifications leak

Every single time one of these gets pimped and statements such as "huge performance gains" and all of the rest are put to one side? you end up with a GPU that can barely manage 1080p low in the latest games.

For over a decade it has been exactly the same.

With Intel working hard to improve their GPUs, I expect AMD to be a bit more aggressive with future APU designs. This is especially true now that the Steam Deck and other handhelds are a thing.

This APU has a GPU that has 50% more CUs than a Steam Deck, a newer architecture, and much higher clock speeds. I game using my Steam Deck all the time, so I would call this APU a viable gaming device.

I am beginning to think they are not allowed by M$ and $ony. Every single time they are a complete disappointment, barely managing to wheeze through 1080p games at low.

It remains to be seen. Either they tape these out far too early and then they are crap, or they are not allowed to compete with their own tech in the consoles. TBH? *IF* Intel make them release faster ones due to competition it is even more disappointing. Especially with the LOLprices on GPUs at the moment. At least in the past it wasn't complete anal destruction buying a add in GPU.

There are rumours of a "Strix Halo" APU that will have 40 RDNA 3.5 CUs. That's as many CUs as an RX 6700 XT. This appears to be AMD's answer to the Apple M-series of chips, and something that can deliver better thin & light performance than Nvidia.

Mobile performance is on AMD's radar, and so are stronger APUs. This APU is reportedly a late 2024 or early 2025 product. They will be a big deal if they launch.
