HTC launches their VIVE Pro "Full Kit" with SteamVR 2.0 base stations and Pro control

Strange release as VR has yet not kicked off at all.... still just a gimick. Best part is the price.... but might as well go with the flow.... monitors for 2000e and gpus for 1200e etc etc

TBH I think this part is aimed at VR arcades and other professional use cases. SteamVR 2.0 is being advertised for its increased play area; a 10x10m play area isn't exactly household grade stuff.

I'd love to see the HTC Vive get a lot cheaper, perhaps see both the standard Vive and Oculus for under £300, but ATM I am finding it hard to take either headset seriously. Classic chicken and egg problem, we want more VR games before investing in headsets, and big game makers want more headsets in use by gamers.

There was a time where I almost ordered an HTC Vive, very glad I didn't. I'm not even sure what I would use it for if I owned one.

Occulus was dropped to £280 here around Xmas time along with motion controllers.

They don't get it, do they? Instead of finally dropping the prices to a spot where it's affordable for someone, that also wouldn't use it THAT much they keep pumping out even more expensive deals....

I tried it out as a mate has it. But even though i liked it and thought some games were cool I still think that its a far far faaaaar away from being something that is good.

Too many problems still and the pc that need to run it has to be powerfull and games have to be good. Things are not better when it costs this ammount of money as well.

For me personaly then there would HAVE to be a good library of TOP TOP games to play before even considering to buy it.

They relied on Devs to release the games, but its just not happening really.

Elite Dangerous
Project cars1
Project cars2
Skyrim VR
Fallout VR

Probably a few more, but there is such a small list of big name titles for VR I can't see it taking off at that price point.

Way too overpriced for my liking. The Rift can be had for $600 here in Australia while the Vive Pro "starts at" $1999.95. The HMD alone is $1299.

If the prices came down and games came bundled with the VR equipment it would be much better. Have big name franchise like ED or Skyrim alongside a popular but smaller known game would be ideal.

You have to remember the Vive Pro isn't meant for everyday users like you and me, It's meant for VR developers.
