Hello! My 670s been gathering a lot of dust on its top and its formed a grey layer which cannot be removed by compressed air I could only remove it by using my finger. How do I go about fully cleaning the surface?
PS- I have attached a picture of the area with the dust and without it
just like any other motherboard or sensitive pc component.
anti static brush will do the job just fine.
if you are obsessed about cleaning it thoroughly then buy some mineral oil(also non static, you can dip your whole pc in it if you want), but probably no need for it.
while you're at it grab some mx4 and reseat it, also clean the fan and heatsink.
Once you've cleaned it fit some fan filters or fix the negative air pressure of your case. That dust is getting in somehow. Just made me think of an idea for a thread!
@Pr3d4t0r - Thanks. I'll try to find some local dealers. I actually found some ''PCB cleaning roller''
@ SeekaX - lol
@ Mysterae - You're probably right. I only have 2 fans on my 600T- one being the standard 200mm one in the front, and then 2 more 120mm ones on the top [have a dust filter], all blowing into the case. However I also have 2x 670s, whos fan run at max to keep it as cool as possible, as well as hyper 212+ exhausting the air. I'll get 4 more fans, switch out the acrylic side for the mesh one, and install it there, and that should solve the problem, right?
PS- The filters which come with the 600T have really big mesh which is allowing quite a bit of dust to pass through! I've attached a photo of the mesh comparison between the standard 600T ones and the ultrafine ones from silverstone.
