How much the max vcore of D945 on air (AC pro)

I recently built a pc for myself with the hardware list below:

CPU: D945

Mobo: Abit AW8-MAX

Ram: PC2-6400

GFX: X1950XT

HDD: 36G Raptor and 250G Mantor

I like to overclock it but I would like to know how much the max vcore of D945 chip can handle on air (AC Freezing Pro) and after I increase the vcore can I run Prime 95 tocheck it stable or I have to increase the FSB as well? Thanks much for your help.

I'm confused, are you under the impression that increasing voltage will boost performance ?

Increasing voltage is a means of taking your overclocking past its limits (hitting instability problems) and allowing you to carry on increasing your clock speeds.

With air cooling I doubt you will be able to over volt the chip without it getting too hot first so ensure it stays under the 60*C - 65*C range and you should be safe.

If not, can you elaborate a bit?

I mean I try to find the max vcore stable before I increase the FSB. Is it not right in overclock? I just though if you find out the max vcore so after that I just concentrate on FSB so it more easy. Is itt made sense?

That is one way yes but you may end up using more voltage than needed. Other factors can make the overclock unstable other than Vcore and if you hit that before you use up all your extra volts, you will be putting unnecessary power and heat going through the CPU, risking damage and degrading

So it mean I should start with FSB untill my pc unstable and then increase the vcore right? And how about the MCH voltage? do I need to increase it if I reach the max FSB and max vcore?
