How fast is the PS3 at folding?

Hey guys,

Long time since I have done any folding. Right now the only computer I have is a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro. Therefore, I am thinking about folding on my Playstation 3 console (I used to years ago when they launched etc).

However, that was some years ago, and I am just wondering how it holds up these days in terms of PPD.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, cheers

I quit running on the PS3. PPD is < 1000 per day now so wasn't really worth the effort IMO. It has been some time though since I ran it so maybe things have changed? PPD is all over the boards right now anyway. Nothing is at where it should be, we are all getting a hit in PPD.

Edit: Oh and welcome to OC3D! Nice to see you around.

I'll get mine running overnight tonight (Uk time - i.e. around 5 hours from now) and see what it can do

Edit: Thanks for the warm welcome, nice to see some familiar faces here

Welcome!

If you want to do some folding for folding sake, its quite cheap to put something together

Welcome indeed!

I'm about to have to cut down on my Folding... winter is already over here in Florida, and the A/C is running expensive enough as it is without a kilowatt of computers heating up the place. It's up to YOU to make up the difference!

Over? It's still 75F here

It's not over until temps start hitting 85+ midday

It's over once the A/C starts to kick on, just running the A/C ups my power bill $100 a month. I have all my clients on -oneunit until I can optimize for PPD/watt, it'll probably end up being my 2500K and a GTX460.

It's 78 in my house right now and my wife likes it at 74, so that's it for winter for us

Got my PS3 crunching now, I will try and keep it running 24/7, apart from when I am gaming or watching a bluray on it haha

I have Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful world playing from the PS3 also as the background tune to the folding app haha - it somehow seems fitting
