How far to trim cpu kitt stand offs?

Guys,

How far have you taken the standoffs on the machII cpu kits? Can you get away with completely flat on both sides?

Im looking for positive correlation on chance of chip breakage vs contact pressure

On my A64 kit it is completely falt to the board, as I trimmed the stand-offs completely off, but thats because I couldn't get any contact with the CPU as it doesn't have a heatspreader. I plan to use this on the DFI nF4 board I have and I don't think you can really damage the chip with this method as it does have a heatspreader and you will be able to feel the pressure when the head is making complete contact, just stop screwing it down at that point.

Normally removing 1mm is sufficient.

I totally removed the little legs completly so its flat. I got a good contact with excellent temps

I did not remove my standoffs, winchester 3500 on MachII running at 3.08Ghz -18degress idle, -12 under load.

Although reading this now I am wondering........ ???

Post your temp results with standoffs on and without, probably more appropriate under load than idle.
