Horizontal stripes all over my screen

So this morning I was doing my regular routine before gaming, checking FB etc., when the screen suddenly froze and a couple of orangy pink lines showed up within the cursor. I rebooted and it the screen was cluttered with white lines, but they disappeared once i got to the Windows loading screen. It was running fine for 20-30 minutes, but then it happened again. I tried rebooting again, but this time the Windows loading screen was glitchy aswell and after that, it just went to a black screen. Now it keeps doing that so I can't enter Windows. I tried running the Windows repair with no results (the lines were present during that aswell).

My setup is:
MSI Z77A-G45
Intel i5-3570K
3DClub GTX 260
8GB Kingston HyperX

Nothing is OC'd

Try to taking out the GPU and run it on your motherboard to see if your GPU is the issue? It's quite old and could be on the way out.

Well, I think I found the problem.. It just booted that way without any issues.. Thanks for the quick and helpful response; I'll be getting myself a new GPU, then

Aye sounds like GPU ram is fubared
