Horizontal lines whilst playing games

Hi,

I recently built a new computer using the kit listed below:

Intel 2600K

ASUS P8P67 EVO REV 3.0 LGA1155 Intel P67 DDR3 ATX (B3 Stepping)

Noctua NH-D14

Mushkin 8Gb DDR3 1866

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Corsair TX Series 850W

Fractal Design Refine R3

Palit GTX 570 Sonic Platinum

Samsung 12x BD-ROM/DVDRW

The PC works fine whilst in windows desktop mode but as soon as the 3D hardware acceleration is being used (i.e. playing games, testing 3D hardware) horizontal lines appear on the screen in regular spaced patches on the screen like monitor frequency issues.

I was wondering whether it's being caused by the Palit GTX 570 Sonic Platinum or by the frequency of the monitor?

Sounds like artifacts to me. Then again I am a total newb so take it with a grain of salt.

What are your GPU temps on afterburner?

Could be overheating.

Make sure you are running the latest drivers and download gpu-z or another program which measures temps.

sounds like screen tears from a slow refresh rate on the screen.

have you tried forcing vsync on in the drivers?

It was a low or high refresh rate, I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers as I couldn't access the Nvidia Control Panel and forced v-sync in the Nvidia Control Panel. Thanks Guys

I must admit the Palit GTX 570 Sonic Platinum works well apart from the refresh rate vsync problem.

I've played Crysis, Crysis: Warhead and Stalker on full settings with no visual slowdown in game play.

It's factory clocked with the following settings:

Core clock: 800 MHz,

Mem clock: 2000 MHz,

Shader clock 1600 MHz.

Cooling is provided via two fans which are never working over 80% of full speed even on thoughest tests and it's one of the cheapest GTX 570 cards on the market.

Thanks once again for the help on the v-sync problem
