I haven't played the original, but the original was liked by a lot of people (apart from the length) and it is very rare to see games coming to Linux/SteamOS at launch.

Original was okay. Multiplayer sucked beyond words on consoles though. Major major bugs. Hated that sprinting was super slow too
Hopefully this one doesn't have those problems

yeah single player was a little short but the story was well scripted. I liked multiplayer but I'm pretty casual at it. From memory (2007/8 I think??) there was no CS/COD style bouncing around everywhere and the maps were interesting.
