Hi all,

I have been trying out WHS on my old PC and it is working for me.

The only issue is that the pc is in all fairness to high a spec to run it 24/7.

Q6600 CPU

9800 GPU

The server is to hold all my fun media, I edit pictures and video for work as well as to hold my video and music libraries.

I will also use it to back up data from my PC and laptop.

So what do you think of the following options :

Underclock the CPU to save on the power ?

Sell the CPU and GPU and get C2D 2GHZ region and a micro ATX board with onboard GPU ?

I have looked at the embedded atom motherboard bundles but they seem to lack many sata headers.

The next question is discs. I have 2 Samsung F3 1TB discs in my main rig or do i get a pair of WD 2TB Green discs ?

I have been storing my media on a WD MY World Edition 2 NAS but I am about to hit the 2 TB size limit :-(

All help as always is appreciated.

Regards

Ed

go for a high end 939 setup, you wont be disapointed with power, or conectivity, ...plenty of both to spare, 3 gig of ram, and it'll be good

939 was on par with the 775 if I am correct.

I just remembered speed stepping, that should reduce the power used by the Q6600 during idle times.

Maybe a board like THISwould full fill my needs
