Average speed in the UK right now is 50Mbps with the majority I know personally being on 20Mbps and the cost of even basic net here being ridiculous for what you actually get.
The UK really needs to get its rear into gear as it is decades behind the rest of Europe in every single aspect.
Lol, that is genuinely bad... I even get more than that with my old Nokia 3310.
I'd rather have latency halved than speed doubled.
There are a few places here that have really fast net speeds but overall it is very far behind the EU, I live near a main city and the best available here is 20Mbps with fiber maybe coming by 2035... maybe... I know people who live in the middle east in cities in the middle of a desert that are on gigabit speeds, The UK is a bad joke.
Didn't you live in Germany?

Not for a very long time, Like 5'ish years ago.
I really don't know why (other than greed/stupidity/etc) the UK is so far behind in Internet infrastructure. It seems so strange to me.
It started around the early 80's, Once the politicians strip mined the UK of all industry and sold everything off to foreign countries to line their pockets the UK started to sprint backwards.
We now have people in positions of authority in various places, Everywhere from ISP's, Utilities, Local council, Government etc... that are not qualified for the job but they have the right school tie and the right type of handshake.
I've said it before but it still remains true, Any time I go to a European country and then come back to England it's like going back in time 50 years, Lowest standard of living mixed with 1 of the highest costs of living which annoys me as some of my closest friends are English and they deserve so much better.
I have lots of school ties. I think they're in the attic somewhere.
