Help with my cheap graphics card

unknown

New member
well i finally realized that i have the gayest graphics card ever made

heres the problem

i just got Zoo Tycoon 2 and when i finished installing everything and tried to run the game it says my graphics card doesnt work with the system

heres the specs on the card

Name: S3 graphics ProSavage 8A26

Manufacturer: S3 graphics, inc

chip type: S3 ProSavage KM133(TM)

DAC type: S3 SDAC

Approx Total Memory: 32.0MB (very sad indeed)

anywas i dont think i can change my graphics card (some comuter tech dude once told me it cant be changed and i also know nothing about graphics cards and how to change them or if they can be changed )

so is there anyway i can somehow bypass the game or somethin to actually play it

or anyother help would be nice

thx

you need to find out what motherboard you are useing so that we can guide you a bit more

easyest way to do this is by useing pc wizard

>>>Link<<<

its most likely you have onboard graphics which are not good for games you most likely will have to buy a new card

i already had pc-wiz so heres my stats

(btw i didnt see anythin with motherboard but heres mainboard)

Hmm, take the side of ur case off and see if it looks anything like this:

get.php

Specifically your looking for the brown slot.

it looks exactly like that

except that the thing shown as 3 is covered by a fan

AND THERE IS NO BROWN SLOT LIKE THE ONE IN PIC

edit: it does suspiciously look like there could be something there [in the spot of the brown slot] almost like this model was suppose to have it but didnt

I think they removed the AGP slot off of the mobo. My friend's HP comp had the PCI-E slot also removed.

You could just go out and buy a PCI slot graphics card, only one i can think of is the FX 5500 from Nvidia.

Forgive me if this sounds patronizing, but Im assuming your not quite a guru (yet:p).

What youve got there is a OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version of the one in my pic (stolen from the manual). Unfortunately it means you don't have the AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) slot. Meaning you are very, very limited in choices for graphics cards. Your best bet for this would be to replace the motherboard with a more capable one, and then add a nice graphics card too that.

Somthing like THIS for the motherboard and THIS for a graphics card would do you very well.

If that all seems a bit daunting & expensive theres always THIS

If youv seen his system specs, i wouldnt even bother upgrading that motherboard.

You would have to do a re-format, which i dont think you know how to do (no offense). And i think it would just get too complicated for him.

You know what i think he may need is a guide to learning how a pc works on the inside, this MUST be very confusing, you dont wnat him spending money on something that he may know nothing about. I am not talking like which processor is best right now, maybe just some stuff so he knows what they may look like like cpu slot, pci-e slot, agp slot, pci e 1x ect...

EDIT: The guide in the end would help him probably upgrade his current card.

Imo I'd go for this.

  • More likely to be supported by the game,
  • Will give some sort of performance upgrade over the onboard stuff,
  • It would offer a first easy step into computer hardware and upgrading.

well i would like to say i am impressed at the way everyone here is so helpful so thanks to everyone

and as for my knowlege in computers

well i know how to re-format ofcourse

i know mostly how the inside of a computer works but i am not very familiar with it because i have not taken the time to study up on it

like i am sure i can replace my motherboard but the only thing is i would not be certin with the wiring

but in any case i could certinly be able to buy that motherboard n a video graphics card (around $100)

but it would probably be high time i gota new computer anyways

just the thing is i dont wanna trash this one once i get it

last of all, WHATS A PSU???

Lol, a psu is a power supply, some people dont like to spell it out.

also, the manual taht comes with the motherboard tells you were everything goes, you can get that at their site to.

just remember to wear a anti static wrist band or if you dont have one earth yourself to ground via a unpainted section of a radiator or something :D
