Help with GRUB 1.97

GRUB 1.97 GNU ubuntu5 Lubuntu 11.10

The installer wouldn't let me create more than one partition so all I have is a root folder (1.8TB) and that's it. Wouldn't let me add a swap partition or boot partition without wiping the root folder and each time it just wiped the previous thing as the only way to get another partition added was to open a new table. This is Lubuntu 11.10, the lightest Ubuntu distro I know of, I've got everything loaded off a live-CD, just need help booting as there was no bootloader installed.

I believe you need to make a home partition. Here is a link to the Ubuntu documentation site, Partitioning your disks. Hope this helps.
