I am trying to get a higher stable overclock but failing miserably so I'm going to need you guys to help me out.

as my sig says I have a opty 175 (toledo) and some mushkin redline 4000 2gb

I cant get past 2500Mhz (250 x 10 @ 1.4v ) with the opty and tbh was hoping for a lot more

same with the memory 260mhz 3-2-3-8-1t 2.8v seems to be my semi stable ceiling at the mo

what am i doing wrong??

What motherboard are you using, what cooling is it under and how have you got your ram @ 260 and the CPU and 250? :eh:

Tbh sounds like you just need more volts!:D

260 is max ram stable

2500 (250 x 10) is max CPU stable

BTW hows that 9800pro holding up ham?

What stepping is the CPU? (the writing on the cpu itself).

Dual core optys are known not to oc as much as single core optys.

its a hassle but wen u find out u can google it and see what others are ocing that stepping.

I bought my cpu off ebay because i knew it was the best stepping to oc on air. only cost me under £30 inc delivery lol.

Maybe it's this thing (I'm not going to try and sound like I know much with big words):

HTT Multiplier

Most AMD Motherboards are designed to handle an 800-1000 MHz Hyper Transport bus. Factory Default on Most CPUs is 800 MHz (A 4X Multiplier) this is a Critical part of Overclocking an A64 to the Max. Pushing the HyperTransport past 1Ghz can cause all kinds of system instability that is commonly misconceived as "I maxed out my CPU" or "My Ram is holding me back"
