HELP - Pcie second slot, for gpu?

I am using a X99 Strix mobo with a 5820k and a Fury X. The case that i have is the thermaltake p5, i have tried all before and it worked, now i have theis custom loop done with petg and with the riser cable then the first gpu slot is not working as its streching the riser cable.

I wont change the whole loop now and so i am wondering if i could plug the riser cable to the second pcie slot? Is there any negative impact? Would i lose fps etc??? It says in the manual that if using 1 gpu then its recomende to use the first slot.

I can either use the second slot OR order a new longer pcie riser cable.

Anyone know with the pc specs that I have mentioned if there is any loss???

Shouldn't make a difference if you use 1st or 2nd PCI-e slot, as long it's x16 I guess. One of my friends use his second slot also, because the first one fried due to water damage. He has no issues with performance drops.

I dont have the manual for the x99 strix at hand so I dont know of its also x16 with the 5820k. Maybe Tom might know?

Can't you use the third full length slot? That one seems x16 by looking at the pictures.

The 3rd slot is fully wired, slot it in there, it will be fine.

Or you could get a longer PCIE cable. Once they start playing up they are normally fudged.
