Help pc speakers <£150

Hi guys, having some trouble trying to find a set of speakers for my pc. my budget is about £150. I'm currently using onboard audio but if I get a decent set of speakers I will look to upgrade and get a sound card. looking for a 2.1 or 2.0 setup.

Basically I'm after speakers mainly for music and movies, I have headphones that i use for gaming. I would buy an amp and separates however I will need to take these speakers to uni so that's not ideal.

The speakers need to have great sound quality and good bass, I would say the audio quality is more important to me than bass. Any ideas you guys have would be great.

I've been considering either a 2.1 system or getting some studio monitors, but was worried the monitors won't provide enough bass. Thanks Guys

If you can stretch to £178, dabs.com have the Corsair SP2500 for £177.33

These are awesome speakers, very good sound and bass

OR

The Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II 2.0 PC Speakers from Dixons.co.uk for £77.37

Seriously, if bass is something you're lacking then get the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 kit. It's amazing and I've had mine for about 3 years now and have yet to (in my parents house) been able to put the volume up any higher than 1/3rd of the dial. It's got three levels of bass, I normally leave it on 2 which is enough bass to keep the house vibrating.

The sound quality is superb, all the highs, mids and lows are nicely captured in this kit.

These things are LOUD! and for a decent price, keeping you under budget.

Or they come in white for £1 cheaper: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-001-AE

Seriously, you'll not be disappointed with music, games or movies with these.

thanks for the replies, i had looked at the corsairs and have watched toms review at least 3 times, they are a little over budget. i was also looking at the aego 2.1 as i'd seen some decent reviews and i like the looks. the aego is slightly cheaper and with the money saved i could get an alright sound card. i guess the corsairs will provide me with a more long term solution to audio then perhaps the aego's might

The aego's are ace mate, I'm sure they'll last you a good long while. They were built for playing music and media, you won't be disappointed

after my mate heard mine, he went out and bought a kit himself

haha you've really swayed me towards the aego's now, i'm thinking if i get a set of these and then an asus xonar dx sound card i should have a decent set up. It's a shame that i can't find any video reviews of them though :/ i do like me some bass and if they're as good as you say then it will be well worth it

Ha, that's my exact sound set up right now. The xonar comes with really nice software as well which you can mess about with all the eqs and such.

Pity there's no video mate, but I guess it probably wouldnt do the speakers justice. I gambled with mine as I originally wanted a cheap 5.1 surround for about £70 tops

but I'm so glad I went for these, I've become such a sound snob ever since mind you
