Help Needed

Hi! Well I'm new here and also building up my first Future proof gaming pc, I have like 1800$ (everything included from case, to aftermarket fans, every single cable) included to spend and thats it, no upgrades in very, very long time. I've been researching a lot and google tends to direct to this page a lot so I think maybe you could help a newbie geek out.

So far I thought..

I5 2500k (I really don't undestrand HT much, but I'm no video editor or anything that's why 2500k not 2600k)

570 SLI (Want 3D high resolution gaming)

Corsair CMPSU-850HX 850-Watt HX Professional Series

ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z - LGA 1155 - Z68 - Republic of Gamer Series - mATX Intel Z68 Micro ATX DDR3 2200

(Seems like a good mobo for the price, but honestly, a friend pick this one, I have really little idea what makes a good motherboard looking at price:performance ratio)

Haven't choose the case yet (People told me I should think about the case last)

Neither choose HDD but 500 gb is more than enough. A SSD would be GREAT but I think slightly out of budget

Next. RAM, is there a difference between 4 2GB chips and 2 4GB? not sure if 1333 or 1600 also..

Monitor: 3D Gaming is something I always wanted to try, and now that I've got the money is defintely my ultimate goal besides future proofing 'course.

So the 2 most viable options for me I think are ASUS VG236H or Acer GD235HZbid and nvidia 3D kit (software, glasses and imitator(?) maybe, not sure about the name)

Aftermarket fans(?) I thought I'll need them

3 months ago I didn't know anything about CPU or GPU. And this is my first purchase and I really don't want to regret about later.. PLEASE HELP!!!!

first off welcome to

now to ur question the

2500k is a good gaming and all round general cpu good choice there

570 is a great card I have one and love it.

HX850 another great choice

cases are kinda personal I love my Storm Sniper by Cooler Master I have added 2 fans to it but only cause I had them from another build otherwise no need really for more it has 3 200mm fans (roof front and side panel)

Hdd a 500gb if you think its enough great but I'd say go with a 640GB Western Digital black if its going to be ur only one.

SSD well if ur set on sli and budget is that tight I'd go with the hdd alone but if you can live without sli then heres where ya could drop in $ for an ssd

ram yes you'll see better overclocks (assuming ur gonna) with 2 sticks of ram over 4 sticks (easier to get them to oc with only 2) I'd go 2x4GB and since ur doing 1155 I'd go with 1866 or higher but no less than 1600

Monitor I'll do some looking into it but I havent researched 3d monitors so cant really say.

well hope this helps any since u listed ur budget in $ I'm assuming ur in the U.S.A. if so check out http://www.newegg.com/ for specials and daily deals you can sometimes score big

what S_I_N said except id get an ax 850( always get a high quality power supply if you want a future proof rig) and a sabertooth p67 (same price where i live but better pci lane arrangement for an sli setup). 1600 mhz ram willl be just fine. .

I also own the acer monitor. the reasons i chose it over the asus one are

- the asus monitor has a glossy screen, which means that playing during he day is going to be a pain

-the acer monitor is said to have a brighter picture which you are going to need in 3d mode, believe me!

Or just get a 590 instead.

Putting it simply. HT = Hyperthreading. In other words logical cores (not physical) they perform, let's say for argument sake, around 30% of a real core. I CBA getting into the nooks and crannies of it lol, but yeah, that's about it.

IMO I would go 590 though. For the simple reason that it's a friggin animal. It's neater. It's cooler (as in temps) and offers more upgrade scope.

It may also even work out cheaper (not checked prices tho).

Ed. It's cheaper to go SLI 570 but not 580. I would hold out til the 590 reaches $600, then make the pounce
