Help needed with GPU cooler

OK i am having a bad day...

I need some thermal pads to refit my original cooler onto my 8800GTS card or someone to swap my full EK cooling block for the 8800GTX for a GTS one.

I didn’t know what Forum title to put this under, but decided i will put it under liquid cooling as that is what i was trying to do with the 8800GTS.

Just out of curiosity cant we have a I made a B***s up of this thread and need help getting out of the hole I’m in?.....Maybe shorten the title a bit, what?

I have just bought (second hand) an EK-FC8800 8800GTX/Ultra FULL GPU block and didn’t realise it would not fit my graphics card that is a 8800GTS Apparently i need the one made specifically for the GTS.

The only difference i can see is the Aluminium sink that screws on the side is this correct?

I don’t suppose there is anyone out there that has upgraded from the GTS to the GTX and wants to do a swap? Otherwise this is going to be up for sale.

I can’t even put the original cooler on as it needs pads on the ram sinks as the gap is too big for paste ******. I ordered some thermal gap filler pads from a well known auction site “just in case” 2mm thick (just over £10 delivered) i thought these would be ok...WRONG to big The GPU wouldn’t touch the block now.... So the PC is in bits all over the dining room where it’s been all week. HELP.

I’m am fed up with chucking money away and still haven’t got ant nearer to getting the pc built.

I am thinking now, could i bridge a 1mm gap with paste Or am i going to kill my card????

Any help advice appreciated as always,

Someone must have put the stock cooler back on there 8800 just so they could sell it.

What did you use on the ram chips PLEASE???

ooh, arent pcs b*tches sometimes?

the guys at aqua-pcs or watercoolinguk may have a 2nd hand/old gts block you could swap yours with, ask nicely :)

b*tches, Your not kidding. Just to give you all a laugh i have just tided up the dining room as i doubt i will get something sorted over the weekend so i won’t be able to touch the PC again until Thursday.

May try asking Aqua-pcs & Watercooling if i can get the piece for the mosfets on its own as i think "WILL ASK THIS TIME" the blocks are the same.
 
Hey Dave,

I can save your a$$ if you are real nice ;)

The only difference between the GTS and GTX is the VRM cooler (the black bit) funnly enough we have some spare ;)

I received the cooler part today. The thing is, this is the one for the GTX the one i already have :( Can i send this one back if you do have the GTS type?

I received the replacement VRM cooler today.

P.S. I have not posted the GTX one back yet but it will be posted tomorrow.
 
Hello

Can anybody help me too? I just bought secondhand Full EK8800gts for my BFG8800GTS OC. but its without thermal pads for the MOSFETS. Anybody knows where i can buy this?

THX for any help.
