Help ME!

That's right, me NOONE ELSE!

Okay, so it isn't life threatening, but its kinda bad.

My poor p4 Prescott 3.0ghz is at 52c resting at stock, and overheats madly when i attempt to OC anymore. Its on a thermaltake p4 cooler, forgot the model name but its a solid copper thing weighing in at about 500g.

Anyone got any ideas for better cooling?

failing that i might just get an athlon 64, seeing as theyre so cheap these days.

good thinking you got a 120 intak and a 120 exhuste ? if no go for a silanx 120 has the shif almost 70cfa at 14 db 1200 rpm

Thanks for the help, But ive got 2 80 mils at front intake, 1 120 mil exhaust, a PCI blower, plus the 6000rpm Cpu Fan.

I tried a chalk powder test to see what the airflow was like, and suffice it to say

that it explained the noise levels my rig kicks out

Tried lapping the CPU and cooler, (a while back) there was a slight drop in cpu temp, maybe one or two *c.

I'm really stumped, Iv'e tried everything I can think of, and it looks like a bit of paste and a polish isn't going to cut it:(

Maybe this is a sign for me to go 64 lol.

better cooling, tuniq tower?, scythe infinity?, scythe ninja?

Solution.

Not much more too it prob...

Lol, I know Thermal Take have a big sucky label attached to them these days, but its actually a good cooler, Trust me, I spent a lot of time reading reviews before i invested the grand sum of 30 pounds on it.

In any case, seems Ima go socket 754 (to save my ram and gfx) when i have the chance, Iv'e had enough of intel

What, with these feet?

Seriously though, i don't really have the cash to, and in any case I doubt a 70 pound cpu is worth cooling with a £200+ system?

you could Win the XSPC kit in our competition :D failing that the kits only £74.99 delivered and will work with all your processors when you upgrade to :)
